Thanks, Coke! Yes, this is a stage set. I'm assistant vocal director for a local production of The Scarlet Pimpernel, and happened to spy this young lady reading on set before rehearsal (she's sitting on the base of the guillotine). She just looked so beautiful and calm that I just had to take the photo.

What struck me most? Hmmm. The light. The single spot of inner solitude amidst the chaos that was going on all around her. It was a singular moment of peaceful perfection personified.
